It is time to stand up for NHS workers

Ten years of under-funding before the pandemic did untold damage to the NHS, allowing it to fall into disrepair. The damage to the service drove some staff out, leaving other staff to face:

• Inadequate staffing levels
• Excessive workload pressures
• Working unpaid hours
• Lack of respite since the pandemic
• Pay cuts so pay is still below 2010 pay when inflation is taken into account
Not enough staff means patients face ever rising waiting times while their health conditions get worse.
Some NHS staff have got to the end of their tether and don’t know how else to make the government listen.
Here’s what you can do to help:
• Write to your MP to demand an inflation proof pay rise for NHS workers
• Tell your MP NHS staff should not have to rely on food banks to get by
• Sign the petition supporting the striking nurses
• Tell others you support the nurses
• Demand proper funding for the NHS – a funding increase of 5% after inflation every year
• Attend our fortnightly vigil in support of NHS staff – 2nd and 4th Thursdays, Clock Tower, Leicester 4.30pm
